For the past two years, three months as a school we have been working toward becoming an affirmed Coalition School. With the freedom we were provided on November 9, 2011 there has been some consternation by some of the staff, "What do we do now? What is is going to look like.
Today the Student Achievement Specialists provided a voluntary in-service to the staff with the goal in mind to build their confidence on the many things that we are already doing and how we are going to move forward. (See attached agenda)) The salient moments during the workshop are when teachers realized that they begin in stage three Plan Learning Experiences and Instruction and forget about stage one, Identify Desired Results, and stage two, Determine Acceptable Evidence. There was conversation around a paradigm shift, and how this type of planning and thinking will change their instructional practices, and it will be easier to make authentic connections.
