Common Core Language and Structure
On August 22, the Maryland Common Core State Curriculum (MCCSC) was shared with the teachers. This sharing was an overview of the plan that was presented to the Maryland State Department of Education. One of the outcomes for the plan is for the teachers to have an understanding of the Common Core Language. An exit ticket was presented to the teachers to assess their understanding.

The Eight Math Practices
At a Classroom Focused Instructional Planning meeting held on September 12, 2011 the MCCSC Eight Math Practices were shared with teachers. The practices were unpacked by teachers and then lessons shared and the teachers were asked which of the practices do they see within the lesson. As a follow up to the meeting teachers are asked to complete a reflection sheet on how they are incorporating the practices into their work. (Attach from Google Docs)
During the course of the year the Common Core was shared with the teachers and the upcoming expectations. In June the Common Core was more fully unpacked looking specifically at the Anchor Standards and the Appendices for both reading and math.
